Dongdaemun Market is the largest marketplace in Korea, stretching from Jongno 5-ga Subway Station to Dongdaemun Subway Station. Specifically, the large area in Yeji-dong near Jongno 5-ga Subway Station is called 'Gwangjang Market' and the seven-story building just outside of the Dongdaemun Subway Station is called 'Tongdaemun Chain Store.' Hundreds of stores in Gwangjang Market deal in fabrics (especially silk), clothes, bedding, household goods, cooking utensils, sundries and food items. Dongdaemun Chain Store is actually a complex of shops dealing in yarns, kitchenware, quilts, bedclothes, silks, fabrics and curtains. Across Cheonggyecheon Street from this complex, one finds Pyonghwa Market, a wholesale clothing market which offers quality clothes at relatively low prices. Most stores in Dongdaemun Market are closed on every Sunday.
